Abstract

This study has been conducted on synthesis of bioplastic from cassava peel waste starch using kaolin clay filler and additon of BP-05 polyvinyl alcohol. The purpose of this study is to determine bioplastik's water absorption characteristic of the effect of varying kaolin clay compositions. The methods used in this research include starch extraction from cassava peels, the addition of glycerol plasticizer, kaolin clay filler, and BP-05 polyvinyl alcohol, plastic molding, and water absorption test. Based on the results obtained, the best quality bioplastik is on the 8% kaolin clay composition, resulted in 34,72% water absorption
