Abstract

The growth of urban logistics has resulted in the emergence of many parcel delivery services with different characteristics and operating systems first-mile (FM) and last-mile (LM) delivery. One of the strength points of parcel delivery services are the speed of delivery and courier response time. Empirical studies on first-last mile parcel delivery in urban Indonesia is still rare, especially in comparing the speed of the operating model with empirical data on delivery. This study aims to investigate the lead time of FM and LM activities related to the parcel delivery operations. This study used descriptive analysis and hypothesis testing using ANOVA, t-test, and Mann-Whitney u. The results and interviews were visualized as an operation mapping show differences in the characteristics of the three parcel delivery services. One of the obvious characteristics was a significant difference in response time for the FM activity of parcel delivery services that have a drop point (DP) compared to services that do not have a DP. The difference in lead time for overall LM activities was significantly different for companies that have 2 main warehouses compared to those with 1 warehouse
