Abstract

Facility planning is the design of industrial facilities that will be built with the aim of placing appropriate facilities so that optimization occurs in terms of efficient material movement and maximum utilization of space. This is to create a smooth material flow so that material flow is efficient and working conditions order can be achieved. Mandiri Craft Foundation for Persons with Disabilities is a company engaged in the production of wood for tables, cabinets and chairs. Based on direct observations, several things happened in the production process, namely backtracking and cross movements. Which will result in wastage of material handling costs (OMH) and
increased material mileage. This study aims to minimize OMH and mileage so that it can be completed by analyzing the flow of the production process by measuring the degree of closeness between departments. Data processing is carried out using the Activity Relationship Chart (ARC), CRAFT and From to Chart methods. The results of the research carried out get the layout of the proposed CRAFT with low material handling costs, namely Rp. 327,784.75, and material handling mileage of 357.7 m. The proposed layout of CRAFT reduces OMH by Rp. 43,359.95 from the initial layout and has a difference of 124 m. Based on the conversion to the From to Chart (FTC) stage, there are still 3 departments that have backtracking and cross movement. layout before the repair which consists of 15 departments. With the application of the proposed layout will help the production process to be more optimal.
